Animal Angels Foundation's team Pune completed the pilot phase of India's first implementation of a full fledged AAT project in a Hospital setting. It was the first time that a therapy dog was allowed to work in a hospital in India and was made an integral part of the therapy process. AAF volunteer team, Pune lead by Minal Kavishwar visited the TDH center of King Edward Memorial Hospital every Saturday, along with Therapy Dog Scott, to work with children with emotional, behavioral and developmental issues. The first phase of the project was sopnsored by Honeywell and we are now starting with the second phase with the purpose to integrate AAT with other therapies at the center.

Team Pune conducted the ‘Tails of Joy’ , our animal assisted reading program for the underprivileged children of Akanksha Foundation. Volunteer Joozhar hastak conducted the reading session for kids with her dog Jinny who was the reading buddy for the session. The children were thrilled to read out books to Jinny. The session was conducted at Jungle Book children’s library in Aundh where our therapy dogs are always welcome.

Children with Cerebral Palsy enjoyed the furry company of our therapy dogs Aekon and Shirley on the occasion of World Cerebral Palsy day which falls on the 2nd of Oct. The event was organized by () and the AAA program was conducted by our volunteer, Dr. Shweta Sohini.  Dr. Sohoni, a physiotherapist says that AAT/AAA is a very when incorporated with physiotherapy can help achieve tremendous improvement in children with CP.

Animal Angels Foundation and Blue Cross Society of Pune together initiated a ‘Reading with a Buddy’ fund raising workshop for children between the ages of 5 and 10, to help them pick up the habit of reading. This workshop was held on the 26th of June at a store called L’Orange, in Aundh. The ‘Reading With a Buddy’ workshop was an interactive workshop held by Tejashree from Animal Angels, with Pepsi, as Reading Buddy.
