Manavya Foundation Manavya is an organization working for HIV+ women and children. It was founded by Late Vijayatai Lawate, founder president, Manavya, who spent 35 years serving the cause of rehabilitating Commercial Sex Workers (CSW) and their children and their healthcare needs. Situated in the outskirts of Pune, Manavya's Gokul project is a residential shelter for HIV+ orphan or abandoned children and women. Gokul is a permanent home for around 50 children, who are also given basic schooling, vocational training and medical care. Animal Angels is conducting an Animal Assisted Therapy project for these children. These children are deprived of their family's love and affection. As they stay on the outskirts of the city with minimum interaction with the outside world, they lack socialization. They have strong emotional needs like to need to be loved, need for belongingness, acceptance, companionship etc. We try to fulfill all their emotional need with the help of Therapy dog Tyson and our team of psychologists. Tyson is a pet of Mrs. Date, a Pediatrician and a volunteer with Animal Angels. Tyson here has truly been an Angel for these kids. He helps them in expressing themselves freely. He is their best friend and playmate who does not ask them questions and provides unconditional love. We also have Naughty, a 4 month old Labrador mix, who is being trained to be an in house therapy dog for the kids.
