Indian Council of Mental Health - Skills and Ability School

The Indian Council for Mental Health (Hygiene) ICMH, a not-for-profit organization, has been successfully working in the country for fifty-seven years. It is the oldest Institution of its kind in India. Skills and Ability school is a school for children with developmental disabilities like autism.

Animal Angels had initiated and executed a pilot project at skills and Ability School, Nerul. Casper, a 7 month old Labrador was used in the school to be a therapy dog and was an excellent therapy aid, especially for the autistic children. We experienced a lot of inspirational stories while working in this school. Casper made these children feel free to express when they were with him. We have got amazing results with the mentally retarded, speech deficit and autistic children in just 10 - 15 sessions with Casper. The school's principle Mrs. Anita Bhaskaran believes completely in this therapy .
